Cafe Pura consists of four high school students- Sophie, Hannah, Carlton, and Coy- of the Ohana Institute in Rosemary Beach, Florida. These four students are undertaking an enormous challenge as a part of their Entrepreneurship class; they are working to create and run a non-profit organization. The goal of Cafe Pura (meaning “pure coffee”) is to help coffee-growing communities in Chiapas, Mexico gain access to clean water by creating a stable market for their products. The student-run company is working to raise $15,000 to provide clean water systems and to fund a student trip to foster relationships with the communities and help improve their economic stability.

You can find them every Sunday at the Rosemary Beach Farmers Market from 9:00 AM to 1:30 PM providing freshly brewed, Fair Trade Amavida Coffee. They are also selling whole bean and ground coffees, and will be hosting a dinner and silent auction event in November. This evening will include a meal, a silent auction to support Cafe Pura, and live music with Ohana Records student artists.

If you are interested in buying coffee, attending the dinner, or helping Cafe Pura in any way contact jmitchell@ohanainstitute.org.
