Where can you find Amavida Coffee at Specialty Coffee EXPO 2018?

Will we see you at the 2018 Specialty Coffee Association’s annual EXPO? We sure hope so! The Specialty Coffee EXPO is an excellent chance for coffee producers, importers, roasters, baristas and a wonderful variety of other industry partners to connect in person around the thing that brings us all together, specialty coffee! This year we’ll be participating in several events with our friends like, Cooperative Coffees, On the Ground Global, Alpha Dominche, La Marzocco, and more….

Here is a play-by-play of our plans for Specialty Coffee EXPO:

Thursday, April 19th

Cooperative Coffees Annual Cupping * | 1:00 – 2:45 pm | Washington State Convention Center, Room 620

Matt & Ellen, of Cooperative Coffees, will be introducing the new cupping platform to fellow members and looking for feedback to help continue to develop this powerful tool. The idea will be to cup 3 specialty coffees and walk through the new format we’re using in the lab at Cooperative Coffees; showcasing some of the more interesting features we are importing!

Offical Launch Party | 6:00 – 9:00 pm | Washington State Convention Center

This is it! The big kick-off and Offical Launch Party begin the big weekend for Specialty Coffee EXPO! Come say “Hi” and mingle with us.

Friday, April 20th

Alpha Dominche | 10:30 am – 6:00 pm | Washington State Convention Center, Booth #2533

Director of Coffee, Martín Trejo, and others from the Amavida Coffee crew will be at the Alpha Dominche booth all day Friday! We’ll be there serving one of our favorite lots from Burundi and sharing what we’re learning about roasting and brewing. We are thrilled to share how through precise extraction of Alpha Dominche technology you’ll be able to taste the unique character of the specialty coffees being brewed.

La Marzocco | 10:30 am – 12:00 pm | Washington State Convention Center, Booth #1207

Meet with Sunni Ellis, Amavida Coffees’s Trainer and Outreach Coordinator. She’ll be at the La Marzocco booth ready to serve-up a specially made cortado, or espresso, brewed on the new mod bar! Learn about our craft, why we chose to brew Burundi with La Marzocco, and how we are working to make a difference for producers and the specialty coffee industry.

Cooperative Coffees Member Dinner * | 10:30 am – 12:00 pm | Steelhead Diner, 95 Pine Street

A chance for Cooperative Coffees board, staff, and roaster members to catch-up and strengthen personal connections for a long-lasting, sustainable specialty coffee industry!

Saturday, April 21st

Cooperative Coffees Producer/Member Supply Chain Meeting * | 9:00 am – 12:00 pm | Washington State Convention Center, Room 307/308

Engaging with producers is not just about getting the coffee from their farm to our roaster, but rather about how we can collectively work together to create better trade relationships and make meaningful impacts in coffee-producing communities across the globe. During this meeting, we will review Cooperative Coffees’ latest business and roaster membership, share an overview of the specialty coffees we import, while exploring what we are doing as a group to support coffee producing organizations we work with beyond general trade. Ultimately this will drive group discussion on what partnerships means for both producers and roasters; leading to actionable steps we can take to create quality coffee and quality of life.

Open Mic Night, Benefit for On the Ground Global | 8:00 pm – 12:00 pm | La Marzocco Cafè

Ready to show the world your guitar chops, silky smooth voice, or, maybe your mind-blowing dance moves? Or possibly just want to enjoy your favorite beverage and watch your peers rock it out on stage? Well then, see you at Open Mic Night! Amidst the revelry, On the Ground Global is also hosting a fantastic silent auction to help raise funds for work to build capacity and community within coffee-growing communities in the Democratic Republic of Congo – one of the last bastions on earth with large specialty coffee export potential. Please join us for good times and powerful conversation at the La Marzocco Cafè.

*Pre-registration needed to attend

If you are attending we invite you to swing by any of the open events and have a coffee with us! If you aren’t in Seattle this weekend and want to a taste of what we’re serving up at the EXPO, then you can shop our latest specialty coffee from Burundi and discover the story behind it in our blog.
