Best Kenyan Coffee from Mbeguka Estate Farm

This fully-washed, single origin Kenya coffee is from Mr. Kithinji Kabiru. He is a former teacher who now operates Mbeguka Estate Farm in Kibugu Village. Located in Kenya’s Embu County region, this is one of several small estates that grow and are known to process the best Kenyan coffee from Mbeguka.

Founded in 1983 along the fertile volcanic slopes of Mount Kenya. Mbeguka Estate Farm produces maize, bananas, and macadamia in addition to single origin Kenya coffee. Mr. Kabiru’s 5,000 coffee plants are weeded by hand during the growing season, and coffee cherries are picked in multiple rounds during harvest time to ensure that fruit is not depulped prematurely. This attention to detail and quality assurance produces truly exceptional coffee, and we are excited for the opportunity to share with you some of the best coffee in Kenya.

The Bottom Line

Kithinji Kabiru and Mbeguka Estate Farm are producing some of the best single origin African coffees. This particular lot was harvested by a single smallholder farmer who is dedicated to quality, and the resulting cup of coffee is complex with varied fruit notes ranging from grapefruit and starfruit in the aroma to blood orange and cranberry in the flavor. Fans of fruit-forward and citric coffees will find a lot to love about this one.
