A Beautiful Representation of Ethiopian Coffee

This Organic, Natural Processed Ethiopia comes to us from the Birbirsa Cooperative. We really enjoy this coffee’s fruit forward profile, shining with familiar flavors of high quality naturals from this region of Africa. Blueberry, blackberry, and tangerine in the aroma give way to more berries, cream and brown sugar in the cup. This is our first year carrying coffee from this producer group, and we are excited to add it to our reserve line up.

The Birbirsa coffee cooperative is located in Beshasha Badiya, Jimma. It's on the smaller size, both in terms of physical and membership numbers, with 80 local farmers making up its base. Beshasha  has ideal altitude for exceptional coffee, registering at just under 2100 meters above sea level. It is conveniently situated along the side of one of the main dirt road that runs through town, affording good access for moving coffee on and off the site. This lot is prepared using the natural processing method, where coffee is picked and allowed to dry with the entire fruit covering the outside of the coffee bean. The resulting cup profile is uniquely fruity and fragrant.
