An Elegant and Organic Peru Gesha
Homer Alarcón Gayoso’s is a second generation coffee farmer, born in the community of San Lorenzo in the district of San José del Alto in Jaén, Cajamarca. His farm, “Finca El Cedrillo”, sits at 1800-1850 meters above sea level, where he grows Catimor, Caturra and Gesha coffee trees. The Gesha seeds for this particular microlot were obtained from neighboring farmer, Jeinner Cubas, in 2017. Both farmers’ harvests yielded wonderful results and demanded higher prices due to their exceptional quality. As coffee enthusiasts, we at Amavida admittedly nerd out over Gesha lots. The variety is incredibly dynamic, with inherently delicate and floral characteristics. We are thrilled that we can showcase one that is fair trade/ organic certified and produced by a single farmer from the Sol y Café Cooperative. Amavida has purchased from this producer group for over six years, and we are excited to see new and exciting single farmer lots come from their organization.
