winter solstice run

What is the Winter Solstice Run?

The Winter Solstice Run is an all-day ultra-run, starting at sunrise, continuing 20 miles along the beaches, around the many lakes of South Walton, and through Florida state forests until sunset. This is all about fun, adventure and camaraderie – it’s not a race! For some, this will be the first Winter Solstice Run, but for many others, it may an annual tradition! Please join us, and together with non-profit On the Ground Global (OTG) we will make a difference for women in the Democratic Republic of Congo! There are only 100 spots this year, so don’t wait to sign up!

The Winter Solstice Run offers three distance options:

  • 20 miles – The whole shebang. Start at sunrise and finish at sunset!
  • 10 miles – Half-Solstice option: Run or Walk the last 10 miles!
  • Relay – You and three others (4 per team) can complete the run together!
Where does the Run take place?

Santa Rosa Beach, Florida – The Winter Solstice Run begins at sunrise from the westernmost point of Scenic Hwy 30A and continues 20 miles along the beaches, through Florida state forests, and around the many lakes of South Walton, until sunset.

 Why run?

The Winter Solstice Run is raising awareness and funds for OTG’s Project Congo. Participating runners aim to fundraise for gender equality projects, in additional to running the distance of their choice in solidarity on Dec. 16th.
